Beauty's Best Kept Secret- Plum Oil

You may not have thought to use plum oil for your skin before, but this versatile oil is quickly gaining popularity for its many skin benefits.

History of Plum Oil Use

Using plums in skincare can be traced back hundreds of years to Western Asia. The oil is extracted from the fruit of the plum tree, which is native to China. In ancient times, plum oil was used to treat a variety of ailments, including skin infections and digestive problems. Plum oil was also believed to have anti-aging properties, and it was commonly used as a massage oil.

Modern Day Use

Today, plum oil is still used for its benefits. Plum oil is rich in oleic acid, linoleic acid, and vitamins A, E, and C. These nutrients work together to nourish and protect your skin. Plum oil has thus been called “Beauty's Best Kept Secret" as it is an anti-aging, multi-purpose oil that balances and restores the skin. A study conducted by researchers from Tufts University in Boston ranked dried plums as containing one of the highest amounts of antioxidants of any fruits or vegetables. [1]

Here are some of the ways that you can use plum oil to benefit your skin.

Reduces Inflammation

If you suffer from conditions like acne, eczema, or psoriasis, you know that inflammation can be a big problem. Plum oil is rich in oleic acid, which has anti-inflammatory properties. This means that it can help to reduce swelling and redness associated with inflammatory skin conditions.

Fades Scars and Stretch Marks

Scars and stretch marks are another common source of frustration for many people. Plum oil can help to improve the appearance of both scars and stretch marks by promoting collagen production and increasing cell turnover. By increasing collagen production, plum oil can help to fill in scars and stretch marks so that they are less visible. And by increasing cell turnover, plum oil helps to slough off dead skin cells so that new, healthy cells can grow in their place. This can also help to improve the appearance of scars and stretch marks.

Boosts Skin Elasticity

Plum oil contains oleic acid, linoleic acid, and vitamin E, which all play a role in boosting skin elasticity. These nutrients work together to keep your skin supple and hydrated. This can help to prevent wrinkles and fine lines from developing as you age. In addition, plum oil can also help to reduce the appearance of existing wrinkles and fine lines.

In summary, here are the top 5 reasons why you should be giving quality sourced plum oil a try in your skincare:

  1. Plum oil is rich in vitamins and antioxidants.
  2. Plum oil can help improve the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
  3. Plum oil is non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog your pores.

We source our Plum oil from southwest France, near Agen. This location has some of the oldest varieties of plums, representing a botanical bioregion bursting with diversity. The plum trees arrived in France from Damascus, Syria sometime in the 13th century and were cultivated in many parts of the Mediterranean where they were also sundried into prunes. Soon the prune (plum in French) D’Ente – literally a graft between local varieties and Syrian plums – became the most populous variety, thus the pruneaux (prunes in French) D’Agen industry was born.

We hope you come to love it as much as we do.
