What is face cleansing oil?

What makes face cleansing oils different to traditional cleansers is how they work compared to water-soluble foams, gels and creams. Traditional cleansers use surfactants to cleanse your skin. Their ingredients interact with dirt, debris and oil on your face, trapping them and allowing for them to be rinsed clean with water.

Instead, face cleansing oils use oil to trap dirt, dead skin and dirty oil, replacing them with clean oils that complement the natural oils in your skin.

As well as moisturizing your skin, oils are also a special type of solvent that is naturally attracted to other oils such as the sebum your skin produces. This is what allows the oils in a cleansing oil to dissolve other oil-based substances such as make-up, while also softening your skin at the same time.
